He’s also gone global — working for New Zealand’s cultiest of cult producers, Craggy Range, as well as another 100 point icon of global winemaking…Paul Hobbs at his premier winery, Viña Cobos. Toss in some time spent at other greats like Howell Mountain’s O’Shaughnessy Estate, plus a couple Pinot/Chard luminaries in Dutton-Goldfield and Freeman out in Sonoma…and…well, DANG! Pretty much the PERFECT resume, ain’t it? 

So…I suppose it shouldn’t have been TOO much of a surprise that this wine nearly separated my brain from my body like some demented Tarantino kung-fu/samurai mash-up. But WOWZA!

This 95 POINT beast is that plush, juicy juice with a capital J, y’all…the sort of inky, silky, decadent, and hedonistic marvel that 110% bears the undeniable imprint of both the Bevan and Katz signature styles! Black fruits, blue fruits, luscious mocha and truffle dust, with savory, roasted herbs, and a wee morsel of spiciness that showcases this volcanic rock/graphite minerality. This baby is pumping like 70’s-era Schwarzenegger, and finishing stronger than a “last call” shot of Fernet. 95 POINTS for a silky smooth, incredibly crushable, completely off-the-radar winery that has nabbed 95-96 point scores on every vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon they’ve released yet!!!
