Meteor Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2005

21 years young, 97 POINTS — this is ICONIC single vineyard Coombsville Cab at an utterly GLORIOUS 70+% OFF!!! The legendary 2005 vintage shows its quality…but with less than 5 CASES total…don’t wait another second!!!

Get some yet? Good on ya. Waiting for the end? Welp, that’s a bold strategy, Cotton, let’s see if it pays off! (Hint: it likely doesn’t.)

Pro tip…when I start quoting Dodgeball, you KNOW I’m excited about a wine!!! And I’m absolutely star-struck by this 2005 GEM of Coombsville Cab!  21 years ago Napa produced one heck of a vintage — and while most wines from that little nugget of history have been drunk into oblivion — your trusty wine buyers here at Last Bottle uncovered a diamond in the rough and tumble volcanic soils of Coombsville — Meteor’s Perseid vineyard, before it was even called Perseid on the label…and every bit as good (if not better) than any 2005 Napa Cab on the market today!!! I mean, 97 POINTS!

The Meteor Vineyard was first planted in 1999 by legendary vineyard maven Mike Wolf (Bond, Harlan, too many iconic vineyards to count), and straight away became known as one of the top sites in Coombsville — and a favorite plot for winemaking gurus like Andy Erickson, Tony Soter, Philippe Melka, and MORE!!! Bill and Dawnine Dyer always got the choicest cuts of this vineyard to make the house wine — and this little baddie absolutely SLAYS!!!

The 2005 is showing up like Old Bordeaux from a legendary vintage (like, say…2005!) With developed fruit notes, and plenty of heightened freshness still pumping through its veins. Mocha, and cassis, and candied violets, with blackberry coulis, and raspberry linzer cookies, and then this wild herb panoply of rosemary, thyme, lavender, sage, and eucalyptus…WOWZA! Sappy black cherries linger well into the finish, with is classic Coombsville to the cored with dusty graphite, and terra cotta clay, worn saddle leather, and sun-dried black plums. The acid is there, the tannins won’t quit, and this 2005 beauty is holding on like a newborn in their palmar grasp reflex phase.

A staggering $171 OFF means this simply must be tasted to be believed — and the provenance is PERFECT! The winery, to us, to you…it doesn’t get much better than that! Over 70% OFF makes this cosmic rain a showstopper you can’t afford to miss…and UNDER $70 for high-scoring, perfectly aged, pristinely pedigreed Coombsville Cab is a godsend…while it lasts, at least!
