This Cabernet Sauvignon pulls fruit from Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and Lake County — all judiciously vinified, tasted, and blended with the utmost care by 100 point ROCKSTAR Julien Fayard…and I gotta say it again…this beauty is crossing boundaries with a purpose like Chef José Andres! You’d be completely forgiven for thinking this is all Napa goodness, and worthy of a $75+ price tag — ‘cause the vibe here is everything Napa Cab would hope to be in an absolutely stellar vintage like 2023 — inky, bold, rich, and lavishly stylish. HUZZAH!
The wine pours out a gorgeous ruby purple, and the aromas immediately detonate across the glass like 4th o’July firecrackers. The black currants, with graphite, and roasted fennel, plus pipe tobacco, and heady cherry kirsch…whoa. Then earthy notes of sunchokes, and well-worn leather, with baked plums, and soya, followed by this entrancing array of barrel notes like mocha, and black pepper, and that seductive dash of Madagascar vanilla…just BANGIN’!!! It’s round, medium weight, and nicely spiced throughout, with a complexity that goes deeper than Shohei Ohtani at Mile-High Stadium batting practice. FOR JUST $15?!
